Introduction

Swami Vivekananda (1863 - 1902) was a key figure of Vedanta and Yoga. 

Swami Vivekananda (1863 - 1902), born as Narendranath Datta, Calcutta, India. He was  one of the most revered spiritual leaders, philosophers, and thinkers of modern India. Additionally, Vivekananda was a key figure of Vedanta and Yoga.


He was born in an aristocratic Bengali Kayastha family in Calcutta. Thus, In his earlier age, he met Ramakrishna and later becomes a devoted follower and sannyasin (monk).

This quest for truth eventually brought him into contact with Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, a mystic and saint who became his spiritual mentor. Under Sri Ramakrishna's guidance, Narendranath underwent a profound transformation, embracing the ideals of self-realization and service to humanity.

Early Life and Parents

Vivekananda's parents were Vishwanath Dutta and Bhuvneshwari Devi. 

Swami Vivekananda, born as Narendranath Datta on January 12, 1863, Calcutta, India, was one of the eight children of Vishwanath Dutta and Bhuvneshwari Devi. His birth was happened on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti which marked the arrival of a soul destined to leave an indelible mark on the world. 



His father, Vishwanath Dutta, was a successful attorney and a prominent figure in society who was known for his intellect and influence. His mother, Bhuvneshwari Devi, was a deeply devout woman whose unwavering faith in God and strong moral values profoundly shaped young Narendranath's character and spiritual inclinations. Her piety and wisdom left a lasting impression on him and he was laying the foundation for his future as a spiritual luminary and a global ambassador of Indian philosophy.

Spiritual Journey

Vivekananda traveled Parliament of Religions in Chicago for the speech of Hinduism.

Swami Vivekananda's spiritual journey began with a deep curiosity about spirituality from a young age. He leads him to encounter Ramakrishna, a Hindu mystic. Ramakrishna became his guru and significantly shaped his path.

After Ramakrishna's death, Vivekananda embarked on a wandering monk life across India, witnessing the plight of the masses, which further fueled his desire to uplift society through spiritual teachings.

The Vivekananda traveled to the West, notably attending the Parliament of Religions in Chicago where he delivered a powerful speech introducing Hinduism to the world, and spent years spreading Vedanta philosophy across America and Europe. Ultimately, he has founded the Ramakrishna Mission to carry on his teachings of unity and self-realization. 

Death

Swamiji was died on 4 July 1902 (age 39 years), Belur Math, Howrah.

Being a spiritual man, Swamiji was died at his mid age. He was died on 4 July 1902 in Belur Math, Howrah. There was problem regarding blood vessels in his brain for that reason Swamiji was died. According to some articles, he was died while he was meditating.
