What Dinosaur has 500 Teeth?

Nigersaurus

Nigersaurus is an important caste of dinosaurs which belongs between 115 to 110 years ago. The name of the dinosaur comes from the place of its belonging, its home ground was in the African country, Niger.

Today, our pointed topic is to know all about the teeth of Nigersaurus which has 500:

Quantity of Teeth and Designation:

Nigersaurus, was a type of a dinosaur who had around 500 teeth. He had battery-like tooth rows which is created by its jaw shape. In his upper jaw (Maxilla), it has 30 columns of teeth (each column had 9-10 replacement teeth). On the other hand, at his lower jaw which is called as 'Dentary', it had 28 columns of teeth (each column had 7-9 replacement teeth).

If we talk about the arrangement then we should know that it is arranged in a broad, straight-edged muzzle, forming a "lawnmower-like" shearing surface.

Remember: interestingly, this type of dinosaur's teeth got replaced in each forteenth days.

Composition of Nigersaurus's Teeth:

Enamel: it is the outer part of the teeth which is made of hard, mineralized hydroxyapatite (like all vertebrate teeth). DentinThe bulk of the tooth, a tough, bony tissue beneath the enamel. Softer than enamel but more flexible, helping resist wear from constant plant cropping. CementumSome sauropods had cementum-like tissue anchoring teeth in their sockets, but this is less studied in Nigersaurus.

Conclusion

This dinosaur 'Nigersaurus' had 500 teeth. Its design was perfected by the various things including hydroxyapatite, Dentin, and Cementum. They were come in the world between 115 to 110 years ago.
